How Does the Excel V Laser Work?
Excel V is a dual-wavelength laser system designed to treat vascular and pigmented skin conditions. Many skin conditions appear as broken or abnormal blood vessels, as with rosacea, in which facial vessels dilate excessively and cause redness and flushing. Excel V delivers a high-power green laser that is absorbed by the abnormal blood vessels, causing the vessel walls to collapse and seal shut. Over time, the vessels are absorbed by the body and are no longer visible. Pigmented lesions on the face, chest, and hands respond in a similar way, darkening and flaking off within 7 to 14 days depending on the area treated.

Most patients feel a brief stinging sensation with each pulse, and discomfort afterward is minimal to nonexistent.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
The number of treatments depends on the size, thickness, and color of the lesions being treated. Superficial vascular lesions are usually the easiest to treat, and some patients see significant improvement after just one session. Others may need two or more treatments to reach their goals.
